The backbone attaches to your gear belt and allows you to mount up to 12 SSL clips on the belt. In keeping with our philosophy of ergonomic and adjustable equipment, yet another adaptable option for the loading of the shotgun using the TWinS method. The basic backbone does not have any clips, but does come with belt retainers. The number of SSL clips can be ordered in the drop down menu.

While not required, some people like to use the QD belt mount options to attach the backstrap to their gear belt.

The NEW Quad Spacing Backbones will take up to 24 rounds and is 10.5" long. It is perfectly suitable for both TWinS or Quad loading from the same system. With 12 rounds, the Backbone will be spaced with a gap of approximaley 3/4" between the SSL clips.

The first, and still the Gold Standard in the TWinS or Load2 shotgun loading methods. Our injection molded SSL clips have a polymer that is tough and thermally stable while still allowing for excellent retention and the smoothest finish and release on the market. Designed by and for the shooter.

I have a couple backbone systems for all shotgun matches and they are a fantastic system. I really love how you can heat up the plastic and shape the backbone to the contour of your chest or waist area. It is truly Universal and gives the shooter a lot of options for configurations.

Review:

I made the switch to the BackBone recently (24rd), and I could not be happier. I was running a heavier metal caddie, that while fast, had poor retention. The Carbon Arms system is, in my opinion, the best balance of retention, speed, footprint, and weight. This entire modular system will be the last caddie you'll run, I guarantee it.

Review:

I shot my first 3-gun match this month, and debated a lot on which shotgun shell carrier system I should invest in. I decided to go with the Carbon Arms SSL Backbone. Customer service was great! The SSL Backbone was the perfect set up for me, and got some attention from other shooters using other systems. A lot of the shooter in my squad were impressed at how well I was able to handle fast reloads for my first time out. I only had the SSL Backbone for 2 days before the shoot and was unable to practice with it in advance of the shoot. The stages that I used my shotgun went super smooth. Thank you Carbon Arms!

Loving the TWinS backbone system! The 16 round version goes almost all the way from holster to mag pouches on my USPSA Production & SS rigs (34" waist). Shells are held very securely for how easy they come out for loading. Great design and a great product!

Review:

This looks like a really great product from the videos I have seen. You need more product pics and how it works. You seem to explain it pretty well on the website but not being intimately familiar with the product it makes NO sense. Most of us gotta understand what we are getting before we buy. Until then many of us wait or buy something else.
