Shotgun Technical
The TWinS systems are inspired by our frustration with wanting to shoot, not wanting to practice loading our shotguns. Seeing some of the Europeans load two shells at a time inspired us to develop a modular, durable and adaptable system that would be more suited to 3 gun and tactical applications. James and Mark took different approaches to the same problem and ended up with two viable systems. The SSL was originally conceived as a chest worn, molle based system that allows the user to load TWo in Shotgun at a time. Our continued development has resulted in two versions that utilize the SSL that can be worn on the belt. While the vest is still the easiest to use, the belt options are right there with them in terms of speed. The FSL is a belt worn caddie style system that also allows the user to load TWo in Shotgun at a time. A features of the FSL is that you can choose to load using the TWinS system, a conventional strong or weak hand load and the new QUAD load, all from the same caddie! While we have tested a variety of weapon mounted versions, they just don't offer any additional speed or utility over the TWinS systems.
The traditional caddies require dexterity and literally years of practice in order to compete at the top levels. With the TWinS system, a novice can learn the system in a matter of an hour or so and most will cut their load times in half! But, the "fumble factor" is greatly reduced as the system uses larger muscle groups and requires less precision. We have had some of the top shotgun loaders test our systems during R&D and all have found the systems to be fast and reliable. The systems can be used for loading with either hand. These systems, especially the SSL ones, are also great in cold or wet weather since the finger dexterity of the conventional loading systems is not needed.
For the competitor who shoots major matches, we recommend using one of each type. We are exploring the law enforcement and tactical applications with several individual operators.
- The chest worn (SSL) allows the user to carry from 4 to at least 32 rounds on the chest. This is the easier system to learn with the lowest fumble factor. There are a variety of companies that offer Molle based chest panels on which the SSL clips with the molle attachements can be used. The backbone uses the same SSL clips, worn on the belt for up to 12 rounds and the Pinwheel is also a belt worn 4 round assembly with the SSL clips. (SSL – Stacked Shotgun Loader).
- Also using the SSL clips, we have developed the pinwheel and backbone that can be mounted on the belt.
- The belt worn (FSL) allows the user to carry 8 or 12 rounds similar to traditional caddies, however the design allows the TWinS loading as well as conventional strong and weak hand loading plus the new Quad load.
